Questions We Get Asked All the Time
Pricing, warranty, preparation, and installation — straight answers to the questions we hear before every project across Alberta.

Choose DJ Durepoxy Coatings when you want a floor coating installed by local, hands-on people who understand Alberta homes, garages, shops and commercial spaces. Danny and John focus on proper preparation, practical recommendations and finished floors that look good, work hard and make better use of the space you already have.
The best way to start is with the size of the space, the location, photos of the existing concrete and a quick description of how the floor will be used. From there, DJ Durepoxy Coatings can recommend the right coating system, identify preparation needs and provide pricing based on the actual project.
Coatings & Materials
For many Alberta garages, a flake epoxy or polyaspartic floor coating is a strong choice because it stands up well to vehicle traffic, road salt, moisture, hot tires, tools and daily use.
Epoxy is known for strength, build and adhesion, while polyaspartic coatings are often used for faster cure times, strong durability and better UV stability. Many projects use a coating system selected for the space, not just one product name.
A flake floor coating uses decorative vinyl flakes broadcast into the coating system to create a durable, textured and finished look — popular for garages, shops and workspaces.
Quartz floor coating uses coloured quartz aggregate for a stronger, textured and highly durable finish — a good option for spaces that need extra traction or a premium finish.
Metallic epoxy creates a more decorative, high-impact finish with depth, movement and custom visual effects — often used in showrooms, feature areas, offices, and basements.
A high-gloss smooth floor can feel more slippery when wet, so garages, shops and commercial spaces often benefit from flake, quartz or another traction-friendly finish.
Preparation & Installation
Yes, many older concrete floors can be coated if the surface is properly prepared first. Cracks, chips, pitting, stains and uneven areas need to be assessed before installation.
Yes, crack repair can be part of the preparation process. Larger cracks or structural issues may need a different approach because floor coatings protect the surface, but they do not stop concrete from moving.
Many garage floor coating projects can be completed in a short installation window, depending on floor size, concrete condition, coating system and cure time required.
Yes, epoxy and polyaspartic floor coatings are suitable for many commercial spaces, including showrooms, shops, warehouses, service areas, offices, retail spaces and light industrial environments.
Yes, floor coatings can work well in shops, work bays, storage areas and agricultural buildings when the right system is selected.
Rubber Pavement
Rubber Pavement is a durable, resilient exterior surfacing system installed by DJ Durepoxy Coatings. It is a separate service from epoxy flooring and is designed for outdoor use.
Rubber Pavement is suited to playgrounds, tennis courts, recreational areas, and other suitable exterior surfaces for residential, commercial and recreational projects across Alberta.
Rubber Pavement is installed at approximately three-quarters of an inch thick, depending on the surface and application.
A properly installed Rubber Pavement surface has an expected lifespan of approximately 20 to 25 years, and every installation is backed by a 5-year warranty.
Pricing, Warranty & Care
Pricing depends on square footage, concrete condition, coating system, crack repair, finish type and travel. As a general guide, standard systems can start around $7 per square foot, quartz and single-broadcast systems can start around $8 per square foot, double-broadcast systems can start around $11 per square foot, and metallic finishes can start around $12 to $15 per square foot.
DJ Durepoxy Coatings offers a 5-year warranty across all systems, including epoxy, flake, quartz, metallic, polyaspartic and Rubber Pavement. The warranty covers peeling or flaking related to application. It does not cover impact damage, misuse, concrete movement or cracking, or normal wear and tear.
A properly prepared and installed floor coating can last for years with normal use and proper maintenance. Lifespan depends on concrete condition, surface preparation, coating system, traffic, impact, cleaning and exposure to wear.
Epoxy and polyaspartic floors are designed to be low-maintenance. Sweep or blow out loose debris, clean spills when they happen, and wash the floor with a suitable cleaner when needed. Avoid dragging sharp metal or using harsh chemicals without checking compatibility.
